I’ve never read a Batman comic and would like to get into them. What’s a good issue or series to start with. I prefer the darker side of Batman stories over the campy type of stories.

My favorites are “Vengeance of Bane” and “The Killing Joke”. And apparently they’re Christopher Nolan’s favorites too
My favorite Batman series is Legends of the Dark Knight, and my favorite Batman graphic novel would be Year One.
Batman the Dark Knight Returns. batman is old pissed off and kicks the crap outta superman, has nothing to do with the movie
Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman gets locked up the newly rebuilt asylum, Cuz he might be crazy
“The Dark Knight Returns.” Non-canon, but beautiful art direction, plot, drama, characterization, and finale. I can’t say much about it, or else I’ll spoil the fun (where there’s fun, there’s Joker).
